CSI Tidewater VA November the Communicator Print

This Month's Program

LED lighting systems aren't just for the electrical engineers.  The way lighting is used in a building can affect the design and appearance of of the building and the certification of sustainability credits available.

Kevin Bremer, Resource Lighting from Chesapeake VA  has advised Owners, Engineers, Architects and Contractors on the best way to utilize LED systems and Controls to the best advantage of the design.  Come join the Tidewater VA CSI as we learn about this valuable resource toward a sustainable environment.

Come join us for a light meal, networking and good information at the Slover Library.  More information at the Event's link below.  We look forward to seeing you.

President's Report

The tour of the IKEA Norfolk was quite eye opening.  Not only is IKEA a retail trendsetter, they also use innovative and interesting ideas and products in the construction of their stores.  After a small group adjourned to the Hilton next door for a beer, light fare and interesting conversation.  I look forward to more at our next meeting, November 28.

A lot of things are happening at Institute.  CSI has negotiated to pay the AIA.CES Education Provider Fee for all of the CSI Chapters starting in 2019.   Currently now we need to self report, but soon we will be able to provide AIA credits for those that need them for registration purposes.

The old saying goes:  “You only get out of an organization what you put in”.  CSI has opportunities for you to contribute to our collective construction community.  The online Volunteer Opportunities page is now live on the CSI Website at https://www.csiresources.org/volunteeropportunities.  I have learned more about my profession through my volunteer activities than I did in school.  Take advantage of this,  you might learn something new!
